Sad, happy, emo, silly, who really knows anymore? One thing’s certain, sad alex is authentically her. Whether she’s singing about being ghosted or laughing at herself, she embraces the charm in every experience with quick wit and soothing vocals.
Self-described as “the happiest sad girl you’ll ever meet” alex’s tracks are specific to her story, yet universally relatable. Recently signed to Red Bull Records, her musical style is a unique twist of pop meets electronic. Her lyrics and personal style are bold and humorous often pointing out the irony in life.
Her latest track “hypotheticals” starts off with a singer-songwriter essence with subtle guitar and quickly builds to a fun and funky pop beat with cartons of texture. The lyrics go through the “what-ifs” of a relationship wondering what she could have done differently. On her social pages, sad alex created a home made video during quarantine where she dressed up as different versions of herself to illustrate those versions she could have been.
We were lucky enough to have alex stop by our office for a brief set (before we began working from home) to perform a couple of her songs for us.
