BTS Secure Fifth No.1 Album with BE, Named TIME’s 2020 Entertainer of the Year

BTS (Big Hit Entertainment) released their new album BE (Deluxe Edition) on November 20, becoming their fifth consecutive No.1 Korean-language album to top the Billboard 200. The album produced seven songs on the Billboard Hot 100, including the hit single “Dynamite” – the first for an all Korean act to secure a No.1 on this chart and “Life Goes On” – the first non-English song No. 1 debut in Hot 100 history. Furthermore, BTS became the first band in the same week to debut both a song and album at No.1 on Billboard.

Looking back at BTS’ album success including a recent GRAMMY nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, the superstars, now deemed TIME Magazine’s Entertainer of the Year, have surpassed what it means to be a phenomenon. Just two years ago in 2018, they released LOVE YOURSELF 轉 ‘TEAR’ followed by LOVE YOURSELF 結 ‘ANSWER’, then in 2019 MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA. In February 2020, BTS released their chart-topping album MAP OF THE SOUL : 7. BTS has been non-stop.

BTS capped 2020 with appearances on Billboard’s Year-End Charts: Top Artists, Top Artists Duo/Group, Digital Song Sales Artists, Social 50 Artists, World Albums Artists, Billboard 200 Artists Duo/Group.
What’s the meaning behind BE you ask? The group said in a SiriusXM Hits 1 interview, “It means existence and, like, potentials. It could be anything — to be present in the moment.”
