Tamela Mann – Overcomer (Tillymann Rec)
American Gospel singer, actress, author and entrepreneur, Tamela Mann continues to release powerful music that brings listeners closer to their faith with her newest album, Overcomer. The 12 tracks on Overcomer are propelled by Mann’s passionate vocals and striking songwriting ability, with each song standing on its own with masterful production by Tamela’s husband, music producer and NAACP Image Award-Winning Actor and Comedian, David Mann. The Grammy Award winner’s newest album is only her latest achievement in her prolific career. Between reprising the role as “Cora” in Tyler Perry’s TV show “Assisted Living” (BET+), and releasing a NAACP Image Award-winning book and joint album with her husband, Us Against the World. Overcomer is filled with standout singles that showcase some of Mann’s best work. The album’s debut single “Touch From You” was Mann’s seventh song to reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart, while “Hello God” turned heads with its unique melding of R&B, reggae, rap, and gospel. Mann describes the creative process behind Overcomer, explaining “I poured my experiences into the lyrics, putting my heart and soul into the words on this album. It’s me looking at my life and the things I was dealing with, trying to learn from those things, and doing what I can to overcome them.” Watch the video for Tamala’s tender ballad “Help Me” below.
