Introducing, Melanie Kurstin, Rights Management Coordinator
Hello, my name is Melanie Kurstin and I’ve joined The Orchard team as the newest Rights Management Coordinator!
Originally born and raised in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area, I have always had passion for everything music, theater, film and television. I started playing piano at the young age of 7 and have been singing and acting since I can remember. I originally received a degree in Theater Performance from Montgomery College in Rockville, MD. Some of my favorite performance experiences include Magenta in The Rocky Horror Show, Logainne in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Roo in Saving Private Pooh which is a mash-up of Saving Private Ryan and Winnie The Pooh (Yes. I am not kidding. It was dark and hilarious). I also had the honor of singing with a choir to honor Billy Joel at the 2013 Kennedy Center Honors.
Fast forward, I decided to go back to school to pursue a degree in Music Business at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Through the school I was able to volunteer, working such events as the Latin Grammy Awards in Las Vegas and the Sundance Film Festival. I also spent a summer in Ireland, studying lyric and songwriting. During my last semester, I was accepted into the Belmont East Program allowing me to focus on an internship in NBC Universal’s Music Services Department in NYC. From there, I found my way to The Orchard.
Outside of work you can usually find me binge watching my latest television addiction (currently on the Community bandwagon), playing board/video games, hiking, vinyl record treasure hunting, cosplaying, performing karaoke, dancing (especially at an 80s or 90s themed dance party), attending comedy shows/theater productions/movies/concerts, and getting overjoyed by every adorable dog and pupper I see.
I am ecstatic to be a part of The Orchard and I look forward to working with everyone!
