Welcome to Throwback Thursdays, a monthly spotlight on a gem from The Orchard catalog that was released a long, long time ago.
Album: Happy Together
Artist: The Turtles
Released: 1967
Genre: Pop/Rock
“Imagine me and you / I do / I think about you day and night…So Happy Together.” In February 1967, The Turtles’ bouncy hit knocked The Beatles’ “Penny Lane” from its top spot on Billboard’s Hot 100. Since then, it has become ubiquitous in film and television as musical shorthand for togetherness, teamwork, and euphoric positivity. Its follow-up single, “She’d Rather Be with Me,” became an even bigger hit internationally. The rest of the Happy Together album is a treasure trove of premium deep cuts, echoing The Kinks, The Zombies, and The Mothers of Invention.
Since 2005, The Orchard has proudly distributed The Turtles and Flo & Eddie’s 1960s and 1970s catalogs digitally.
