Remembering Bob McGrath: A Champion For Children’s Music

Remembering Bob McGrath: A Champion For Children’s Music

We’re saddened to hear of the loss of a longtime friend to The Orchard, Bob McGrath (Robert Emmett McGrath). Bob was an American actor, musician, and children’s author, but was best known for his role as Bob Johnson on the popular children’s show, Sesame Street. Bob worked with Sesame Street for 48 years from its inception in 1969 until 2017.

As an early believer in The Orchard, Bob signed his Children’s Music label, Bob McGrath Productions, Inc., with The Orchard in 2004. When we needed someone, anyone, we could talk about as a partner in the early days, we had Bob.

Bob was representative of a wholesome passion for storytelling. This was evident through his work on Sesame Street and later through his musical releases. With his 1995 album, Sing Me a Story, he inspired joy for so many. His love of the holidays can also be felt this season through his Christmas album, Christmas Sing Along, and his 2021 single “What a Great Christmas it Was.”

We send our condolences to the McGrath family, friends, and fans.
