Premio Lo Nuestro Winners Announced

Premio Lo Nuestro Winners AnnouncedThe Premio Lo Nuestro winners have been announced! The 31st annual Premio Lo Nuestro gala kicked off Thursday, February 21, and the room was filled with musical legends, tributes, and a celebration of culture and music that truly stands the test of time.

Ozuna, Yandel, Zion & Lennox, J Balvin, and De La Ghetto, came together to tribute the king of Reggaeton, Daddy Yankee, who was honored with the Premio Lo Nuestro Lifetime Achievement Award. The esteemed artists combined hits from Daddy Yankee’s Barrio Fino album, released 15 years ago. Following their fiery performance, with dancers, fire, and stacked tires, J Balvin decided not to stick to the teleprompter script but instead spoke from his heart to Daddy Yankee and the crowd, “Without Daddy Yankee there would be no Reggaeton in the world…Many times we wait for someone to leave this planet to tell them how great they are and I take this opportunity to tell you in advance thanks for what you have done for us.” The dressed up crowd went wild during the tribute performance and Daddy Yankee received a standing ovation.

The night included various wins and performances. Anuel AA, won Revelation Artist of the Year, and told the audience, “I want all my success to always be a motivation for all those people who are going through difficult times in life.” Ozuna took home a whopping nine awards including Urban Male Artist of the Year, Remix of the Year for Te Boté, and Tour of the Year.

Natti Natasha was nominated 15 times and took home four awards including Tropical Song of the Year with “Quien Sabe.” These wins follow her release of ilumiNATTI (SME US Latin/ Pina Records). Capping off 2018, Natti placed number 2 on the Billboard’s Year-End 2018 Top Latin Artists Chart. In an interview with Billboard Natti says, “I really like to connect. I really love that feeling that what I’m doing is not only being heard but felt by my fans.” And that resonated last night with her wins!

Once again, congrats to all our nominees and winners! Don’t forget to watch the fascinating compilation performance (it’ll make you get up at your desk and dance, trust us).
