Out Today by The Orchard: G Herbo, ARASHI & More!

Another week has come and gone and it’s finally Friday again, which means another batch of new music has arrived! As February comes to an end, it’s time to reflect, refresh, and celebrate going into a new month. Take a listen to new releases from rapper G Herbo, Japanese pop group ARASHI, and UK singer/songwriter Alice Jemima on this week’s Out Today.

G Herbo, PTSD (Machine Entertainment Group)

Growing up in one of America’s most violent cities, twenty-four-year-old MC G Herbo has endured a lifetime’s worth of trauma in just a few decades. G Herbo was exposed to violence at a young age, losing countless amounts of loved ones to gun violence. Growing up around violence for most of his life, the rapper never acknowledged the effects it had on his life and mental health thereafter. Coming to terms with his PTSD has allowed G Herbo to understand that a lot of the actions people take are products of the mental health problems they develop after experiencing violence in their communities. With a fitting title, PTSD details G Herbo’s experiences through vivid tracks full of his realities. The album is filled with star-studded features from the likes of Chance the Rapper, 21 Savage, and the late Juice WRLD.  PTSD is poised to etch G Herbo as one of the genre’s best storytellers, and listeners everywhere will have the album on repeat.

ARASHI, Reborn, Vol. 1 (J Storm Inc.)

Veteran Japanese pop group ARASHI is back with a reimagined EP! After two decades as a band, they have more than a few accolades to their name. ARASHI has released more than fifteen albums that have topped the Japanese charts, earned twenty-two platinum singles, and sold over thirty-eight million copies of their albums in Japan alone. Their new EP Reborn, Vol. 1 is the first installment of its kind. The release includes new versions of three of the group’s most loved songs; “A-RA-SHI” (1999), “A Day in Our Life” (2002), and “One Love” (2008). Reborn, Vol. 1 shows the group’s new perspective of their old hits in the modern music scene. Take a listen and reminisce here

Alice Jemima, Everything Changes (Sunday Best Recordings)

After the success of her debut album, Alice Jemima is not slowing down anytime soon. With her self-titled debut album reaching over 25 million streams, new doors have certainly been open for the indie-pop singer/songwriter. Many brands have included her tracks in their adverts, like Ralph Lauren and Macy’s. Everything Changes is a challenge to Alice Jemima as you know her. The singer/songwriter digs deep to overhaul her art and her methods of making it. Jemima’s sophomore album is unlike her debut, but is still guaranteed to thrill fans. As the title depicts, Everything Changes, along with her music and artistry. The album is enthralling, raw, honest, and worth a listen.
