The CMT Awards were established in 2002 by the popular Country music television channel honoring only music videos. Usually, the ceremony airs in July during Nashville’s CMA Fest. Over the years, CMT grew in popularity, and in 2019, the CMT Awards saw 2.7 million viewers. Selected entirely by fan vote, this year the awards will take place on October 21 at 8pm ET/7pm CT.
Kelsea Ballerini’s “homecoming queen?” has two CMT Award nominations for CMT Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year. Her “Graveyard” duo with Halsey is leading the performance of the year nominations alongside Brooks & Dunn’s “Brand New Man” with Luke Combs.
Most recently, Kelsea debuted the follow up to her album kelsea called ballerini. It’s the second half of her story, each song carefully re-recorded and re-imagined. Each song highlights a different side of the story (and herself). The thirteen tracks on ballerini focus on the lyrical power of the records, stripping the songs to the core.
