The 2023 Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR) Awards nominees have been announced! The awards will take place on Thursday, August 3 at the Freemasons Hall in Adelaide, Australia. Congratulations to The Orchard’s distributed partners on 34 nominations total!
Two new industry categories were introduced this year, one of which aims to highlight the Independent Marketing Team of the Year. The Orchard is proud to announce that we received a nomination alongside our partners at ABC Music for The Wiggles – Rewiggled (ABC Music).
Cooking Vinyl Australia artist King Stingray received a total of 4 nominations, including their self-titled project which was nominated for Best Independent Rock Album or EP and Independent Album of the Year. They were also nominated for Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year as well as Independent Song of the Year for their song “Camp Dog.”
ABC Music, ABC Classic, and ABC Kids collectively acquired 11 nominations! A few of the nominees include Baby Velvet’s Please Don’t Be In Love With Someone Else (ABC Music) for Best Independent Blues and Roots Album or EP, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Benjamin Northey, and Nigel Westlake’s Blueback (Original Motion Picture Score) (ABC Classic) for Best Independent Classical Album or EP, and The Wiggles’ Rewiggled (ABC Kids) for Best Independent Children’s Album or EP.
