Nominations Announced For the 50th Annual Juno Awards

The 50th Juno Award nominations have been announced, honoring the biggest artists throughout Canada. The award show will air May 16 on CBC TV, CBC Gem, CBC Radio one and CBC Music. Or, stream the Junos online at CBCmusic.ca/junos. Filming will take place throughout the country at various Canadian landmarks. Among this year’s honors will be a number of philanthropic awards such as the Humanitarian Award and MusiCounts Inspired Minds Ambassador Award. The Orchard is happy to celebrate over a dozen of our distributed partners have been recognized for this year’s awards.

Among those selected is influential and highly acclaimed singer-songwriter, Alanis Morissette. Since 2019, Alanis’s iconic album Jagged Little Pill, inspired the launch of the Broadway Musical of the same title, all whilst Alanis released her ninth studio album titled, Such Pretty Forks In The Road featuring “Reasons I Drink” and “Ablaze.” The album delves into her struggles, growth, self-expression, artistry, and, of course, emphasizes themes of female empowerment and spirituality. Continuously reinventing the wheel and exceeding expectations, Alanis has been nominated for Songwriter of the Year as well as Adult Contemporary Album of the Year for Such Pretty Forks In The Road

Alongside Alanis in the Adult Contemporary Album of The Year category is Pierre Lapointe. A staple of the Quebec music scene, Pierre is no stranger to the Canadian awards circuit having received numerous ADISQ nominations and Juno nods in the past. Pierre’s latest project titled, Pour déjouer l’ennui, which translates “to thwart boredom,” enlists the talents of collaborators including Daniel Bélanger, Philippe B, Hubert Lenoir et Julien Chiasson, Amélie Mandeville, Félix Dyotte and Clara Luciani. In addition to the Contemporary category, Pour déjouer l’ennui is also in the running for Album Francophone de L’année.
