A Tribute To Pau Donés Of Jarabe de Palo

A Tribute To Pau Donés Of Jarabe de Palo

The Orchard sends our sincerest condolences to the friends and family of Jarabe de Palo’s leader, Pau Donés, a beloved artist in Barcelona, Spain who passed away this week at the age of 53.

Jarabe de Palo was considered one of the most influential Latin Rock bands, not just in Spain but in the whole Latin Region. Their hits “La Flaca”, “Agua”, “Depende” and “Bonito” among others, moved an entire generation. They were awarded the Spanish Premios de la Música, Premios Ondas and have been nominated several times for the Latin Grammys. The group collaborated with La Vieja Trova Santiaguera, Antonio Vega, Vico C, Celia Cruz, Chrissie Hynde (The Pretenders), and Alanis Morissette. Pau Donés also composed tracks for Ricky Martin and collaborated with Italian musicians such as Jovanotti, Niccolò Fabi, Modà, and Ermal Meta. He toured extensively around Europe, Latin America, and North America.

In 2008 the band started on their independent journey, founding their own record label Tronco Records. The Orchard signed a direct deal with them in 2012 and since then the band released Somos (2014), Tour Americano 14/15 (2015), 50 Palos (2017), Jarabe Filarmónico (2018) and his latest album, Tragas o Escupes, released a couple of weeks ago. The latest included messages about the gift of life and his daughter Sara.

Pau Donés was a big influence in Spain and for The Orchard, not only because of his music but also because of his vitality and vigorous personality, which pushed The Orchard to be the best version of ourselves each time faced with a new project.
