Introducing, Andrew Borden, Coordinator of Acquisitions, Film & TV
I’m a kid of the 90’s so TV/Film quickly became my babysitter and friend whenever needed. I grew up watching lots of blockbusters and Adam Sandler-esque comedies but discovered independent and foreign film (luckily) in my teens and became OBSESSED. It was clear that the best stories were being told outside of the studio system and I knew I wanted to be involved in that world. Fact: two of my all-time favorites are Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Weekend.
Although I was born in Colorado (where some of the best hiking exists!) and raised in numerous states, California has been my home for the last decade. I have a love-hate affair with LA, which is why I was happy for the change of scenery and culture while studying up in Berkeley for two years. I graduated with a B.A. in Film & Digital Media, did my last semester abroad in Spain and then came right back to LA for work. I managed to weave my way in and out of many facets of the industry (marketing, publicity, int’l sales, distribution, acquisitions) but finally discovered that acquisitions is where I wanted to be. So, needless to say, I was very excited to get picked up by The Orchard. The company hit my radar with The Overnight and Taika Waititi‘s titles and I’m excited I’ll be a part of the group discovering some great indies!
In my time away from work, you’ll still find me reading scripts as I try to be engaged for festivals or competitions; this year, I started working with Outfest. Otherwise, I enjoy heading out to the beach with my husband, hiking, going on a day trip or trying to find a good brunch place for us and friends.
