The Orchard launched a new series named In Collaboration. This series explores the relationship between artistic unity within Black culture to craft a work of art. Themes such as trust building, vulnerability and energy exchange are on display, and attest to the abundance and diversity within creative spaces. Explore the minds of these duos and gain insight into how collaboration fuels the evolution of artistic expression.

Upon selecting a visual artist to collaborate with, these pairs embarked on a journey that culminated in three original singles released throughout June, each with a corresponding original visual artwork.
Episode 1: Shaé Universe & Karis Beaumont
Both from Hertfordshire, R&B artist Shaé Universe and visual artist Karis Beaumont join forces to create an “unimaginable, timeless legacy.” Their partnership is boosted by the pillars of friendship, trust, and vulnerability.
Shaé Universe’s new single “OOTW” (Order on the Way) unveils a different side of love and Shaé herself. In her own words:
“OOTW is for the real lovers and yearners. It’s time to bring back shameless romance and submission! No ego, just passion and freedom. The sultry groove of the beat instantly sets the tone and the lyrics amplify the sensual feel of the song. I can confidently say that this is some of my best work yet and this song serves as an introduction to my most powerful era.” – Shaé Universe

Based in LA, R&B artist Lekan and photographer & creative AP come together to demonstrate the importance of community and encouragement in the creative process. This episode explores the initial sparks that come with new collaborations.
Lekan’s new single “So You Know” is an evocative journey through soulful melodies and uplifting beats, painting vivid pictures of resilience and loyalty. The track blends R&B’s depth with Soul’s warmth, highlighted by lyrics that tell a tale of staying driven amidst life’s challenges.

Hip Hop artist Yakiyn and photographer Ro.Lexx join up to take on this new artistic endeavor. “Working with someone new is a big thing. You have to put your trust into that moment with that person,” says Yakiyn.
Yakiyn’s new single “GIMMIE LIT” combines synth and bass sounds to bring a dreamlike vibe to life.
