As Rolling Stone recently summarized, Premios Tu Música Urbano is “Latin music’s premier (and only) urban music awards show.” Presented in Puerto Rico, the awards recognize and celebrate where the genre was born. Filled with many familiar faces and a star-studded evening of performances, let’s take a look at some of the winners.
Ozuna and Natti Natasha were awarded Top Artista Masculino and Top Artista Femenino, respectively. Ozuna’s vocals and third studio album Nibiru earned him a total of 3 wins, including 2 People’s Choice Awards. The album preceded the release of five singles including the infectious “Baila Baila Baila.” To no one’s surprise, Natti Natasha’s Iluminatti also won Album del Año Femenino.
Fifteen year old Juanfran (DN7 Music), awarded the Top Urbano Europe prize, is one of Spain’s youngest performing artists. Juanfran’s popular hit “Mi Morena” peaked at #1 on the Spotify Spain Top 50. Juanfran’s “Mi Morena (Remix)” in collaboration with Bandaga, received more than 3 million views in less than two months. Juanfran’s popularity and “Mi Morena” success grew as a result of his popularity on TikTok.
Congratulations to all The Orchard’s distributed artists who took home a prize and to all the nominees!
