This year marks the 53rd annual Country Music Awards held in Nashville, Tennessee. “Country Music’s Biggest Night” was hosted by Carrie Underwood and special guests Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton. The 2019 ceremony celebrated legendary women in Country Music with an opening including Gretchen Wilson (Redneck Records) alongside the hosts, as well as Terri Clark (BareTrack Records), Sara Evans, Crystal Gayle, Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, and Tanya Tucker.
The Orchard distributed country artist Kelsea Ballerini (Black River Entertainment) was nominated alongside an incredible list of women for Female Vocalist of the Year. In addition to being a nominee, Kelsea performed a solo acoustic set of her single “homecoming queen?” before teaming up with Lindsay Ell, Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce, Little Big Town, Maddie & Tae, and Runaway June for a special rendition of “Girl Crush.” Check out both clips below.
The Country Music Awards wasn’t the only big event the ‘homecoming queen’ participated in this week. On Friday, November 8, Kelsea released her single “Club”: an upbeat party song about being the life of the party without having to feel like going to the, well, club. “I could be the life of any party/ I can play along with anybody, but sorry/ I don’t want to go to the club,” Kelsea sings. Just a week ago, Kelsea performed her new single at the People’s Choice Awards, wearing a fluffy pink dress supported by a crew of backup dancers.
We can’t wait to see what 2020 brings for this country star and are pleased to see so many of these powerful women in country, together on stage.
