27-year-old powerhouse, Gloria Groove, born and raised in the East Zone of São Paulo, Brazil or “Zona Leste,” is one of the world’s biggest drag queens – the top drag queen on Spotify Global, in fact. Her music career began in 2016 with her single “Dona” and in 2017, she released her first album O Proceder. Since then, she has amassed over 4.6M monthly listeners on Spotify. Her album Lady Leste hit #1 global on the Spotify Top Albums chart in February.
“Gloria is my alter-ego, the lens I chose to put on and see the world. Before everything, she is the personification of resilience. She is challenging, questioning, and brilliant. Deep inside she is just a superhero imagined by little Daniel, who is actually me, the creator” says Groove.
She’s collaborated with artists such as Marina Sena, Lexa, Leo Santana, Priscilla Alcantara, and many others. In 2020 and 2021 she broke the internet with singles “Deve ser horrível dormir sem mim” in collaboration with Manu Gavassi reaching 69M+ views and her “Lud Session” with LUDAMILLA skyrocketed to 50M+ views on YouTube (Spotify).
Lady Leste is Groove’s second studio album which has gone triple platinum with over 500M streams. Of her top singles, “A QUEDA,” which achieved double diamond recognition with 250M+ streams, put her in the Top 10 on popular streaming platforms and Top 200 on Billboard. She’s broken into the Top 50 in Portugal and Top 200 in Uruguay, Switzerland, and Cape Verde (Spotify), making her an international sensation. Unsuprisingly, both “LEILÃO” and “VERMELHO,” have earned single diamond recognition with 100M+ streams each.
Lady Leste is my dream. I feel like this is the album I’ve always wanted to do as an artist. I’m not afraid anymore of people seeing my versatility as a mystery. It’s a combination of my past (Leste – the region I’m from in the state of São Paulo) and my future (Lady – how I want people to see me). It’s a rupture.
