There’s no better way to spring into the new season than to celebrate with music (and of course, food trucks) at festivals. The Orchard is proud to announce that many of our artists are performing at some of the top festivals across the United States and globally. While we know there are a countless number of festivals, and we give a nod to all The Orchard’s artists, labels, and partners who are performing on various stages across the world, we wanted to pull back the curtain for a quick sneak peek.
Coachella | Indio, California | April 12-14 + April 19-21, 2019
Held in sunny Indio, California, Coachella features artists from all genres, and has several stages across the grounds that continuously host live music throughout two three-day weekends. Bad Bunny (Rimas Entertainment) is bringing some flavor to the Coachella lineup for a second year in a row. He landed on the front cover of The FADER this past Fall 2018 Fashion Issue and is embarking on his X100 PRE Tour this March. The chill Canadian singer-songwriter Mac Demarco (Light in the Attic) is joining Coachella this year as well as many other stages worldwide including Bonnaroo, All Points East Festival in England, Primavera Sound in Spain, and more. He was freshly featured on Rolling Stone and Pitchfork discussing his new album that is to be released this year.
Governors Ball Music Festival | New York City | May 31-June 2, 2019
Governors Ball Music Festival, brought to Randall’s Island Park by Founders Entertainment, is a three-day music and arts experience combining “music of all genres, foods of all flavors, arts of all variety, and more.” Hippo Campus (Grand Jury Music) and Jorja Smith (FAMM) will both be present. Hippo Campus is made up of band members Jake Luppen, Whistler Allen, Zach Sutton, Nathan Stocker. And since their first performance of “Bambi” at Paste Studios, they have a number of shows lined up over the next few months. When asked about the meaning behind the popular song, the band said “Bambi” is about the challenges of being a friend to those around you when you’re trying to manage your own mental wellness.
Bonnaroo | Manchester, Tennessee | June 13-16, 2019
Known for showcasing some of the best up and coming talent on a 700-acre farm nonetheless, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, produced by Superfly and AC Entertainment, hosts more than 125 bands over the course of four days in Manchester, Tennessee. Best Dance/Electronic Album GRAMMY nominee TOKiMONSTA (Young Art Records) and top innovator of the genre with her elaborate combination of trance and R&B, is taking the stage. This festival is filled to the brim with many more of our friends including Bombino (Cooking Vinyl Australia), Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee John Prine (Thirty Tigers), and indie dance pop band RubbleBucket (House Arrest), to name a few. Roskilde Music Festival | Roskilde, Denmark | June 29 – July 7, 2019
Roskilde is one of the oldest music festivals of Northern Europe (and one of the largest), dating back to 1971. This year the lineup features a few friendly faces! Jorja Smith (FAMM) will make yet another festival appearance. Other acts include brenn. (Compro AS), Heave Blood & Die (Blues for the Red Sun), Rival Consoles (Erased Tapes Records), and Speaker Bite Me (PonyRec). Khruangbin, a three-piece band from Texas consisting of Laura Lee (bass), Mark Speer (guitar), and Donald Johnson (drums), performed last year at NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, and are making their way to Roskilde this summer. An eight-day festival, Roskilde merges music, art, sustainability, and active participation. The festival has over 30,000 volunteers who help make the festival what it is today.
Lollapalooza | Argentina, Brazil, Chile | Various Dates
Every year Lollapalooza in Chicago attracts over 160,000 people, and in 2010, the festival brand debuted outside the United States with the first new branch staged in Santiago, Chile. In 2012 the expansion continued with São Paulo in Brazil and then Buenos Aires as the third in Argentina. Best New Artist Grammy Nominee and winner of BRIT Awards Best Female Solo Artist, Jorja Smith (FAMM) is performing at Lollapalooza Chile, Lollapalooza Argentina, and Lollapalooza Brasil.
Moon River Music Festival | Chattanooga, Tennessee | September 7-8
The sold out Moon River Music Festival, is an intimate two-day festival taking place in Chattanooga, Tennessee’s Coolidge Park hosting 22 artists. This year’s lineup will include Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit (Thirty Tigers) and Mississippi native Cedric Burnside (Single Lock). The Bitter Southerner described Cedric’s GRAMMY-nominated album, Benton County Relic, as one of 2018’s best southern albums, and Afropunk said that it elicits “strength, resilience, and hope.” Four-time GRAMMY award-winning American singer-songwriter Joy Williams (Thirty Tigers) is performing just months before her forthcoming album Front Porch. You’ll also be able to find The Wood Brothers (Thirty Tigers) and Josh Ritter (Cooking Vinyl Australia) at Moon River! The Wood Brothers says their newest album One Drop of Truth is the “freest album [they’ve] done, the most independent album [they’ve] done, and was the most fun [they’ve] ever had making a record.” Fans will be able to check out their sounds, styles, and influences when they take the stage this Fall.
Primavera Sound | Barcelona, Spain | May 30 – June 1
Primavera Sound takes place in Barcelona, Spain, and has become one of the world’s most-loved music festivals that showcases a lineup of the finest alternative and underground talent from all over the world. Argentinian artist, Nathy Peluso (Taste The Floor)will perform her creative mix of hip-hop and rap, seen in her latest song “NATIKILLAH”. Performing alongside the soulful singer will be avant-pop musician, Cate Le Bon (UK Kemado). Her live performances don’t just stop at Primavera, but includes a month long international tour at notorious stages in stunning capitals like Paris, London, and more. Be on the lookout for performances by Myrkur (Relapse Records) and Guided By Voices (Revolver) as well as Primavera!
