Celebrating Norwegian Artists: Spellemannprisen Winners

Celebrating Norwegian Artists: Spellemannprisen Winners

The Spellemann Awards, often referred to as the Norwegian Grammy Awards, is an annual music award ceremony established by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). This year’s ceremony was held on April 4 at The Hub in Oslo to celebrate Norwegian musicians. Congratulations to our distributed labels and artists on thirteen wins!

GR:OW Records artist Delara won Album of the Year for her album Shahrazad. Her album’s themes and musicality are influenced by her Norwegian and Iranian heritage. Delara speaks out on the injustice caused by the regime in Iran, where her sisters and brothers are fighting for their freedom. As the regime forbids singing and dancing, Delara had to leave her family in order to pursue her career. She writes with the hope that one day Iran will be free, and she will be able to visit her family.

Helge Westbye won the first Golden Harp Award after more than 40 years of running his own independent label, Grappa Musikkforlag. The label is one of the oldest and largest independent record companies in Norway, with a catalog that contains over 35,000 tracks of music.

Anne Hytta, a composer and performer of the hardanger fiddle, won TONO’s Composer Award for her release Bregda. Hytta’s musical background focuses on traditional hardanger fiddle music, the national instrument of Norway.
