The Orchard held the second edition of the Female/Non-binary Hiphop/R&B Songwriting Camp in Sweden a couple of weeks ago with partners Sony Music Publishing and House of Creative. The camp focuses on building a safe space for women and non-binary people to find connections across borders, while creating amazing music together.
Last year the camp was the first of its kind held in the Nordics. The camp was this year expanded to 25 artists, songwriters and producers, with participants from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, England, Netherlands and Spain. The music created was in Swedish, English and Spanish.
From The Orchard, international participants in the camp included artists such as Julieta (SP), Shaé Universe (UK), TYSON (UK), Ginge (NL), Aggi (DK), Tamara (DK), Ingrid Jasmin (NO), and Swedish artist Venus Anon.
“So happy to once again be part of creating this camp where women and non-binary have been able to connect across borders and create long-lasting relationships. Even though we have a long way to go for an inclusive music business, it’s inspiring seeing so many women in the same place making great music and creating future opportunities for each other”
Linda Melin Segerström, Artist Marketing Manager at The Orchard
The camp was organized in collaboration with A&Rs from Sony Music Publishing and House of Creative, a creators house in Stockholm, Sweden.
“We are happy to be part of this inspirational space and camp. The music creators got an opportunity to delve deeper into their art with our creative workshops, inspirational facilities, and together with our dedicated partners, we managed to create a fantastic environment for all participants”
Romina Tufekcieva, one of the founders of House of Creative.
The camp was sponsored by Export Music Sweden, Music Norway, Sony Music Sweden, L’Oreal, Dig, Comfort Hotel Solna and Marshall.
