The 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards were held on Thursday night live from the Watsco Center in Florida. The annual awards ceremony wrapped this year’s Billboard Latin Music Week, which celebrated Latin culture and entertainment with conferences, workshops, performances, and more. The biggest chart-toppers in Latin music were honored on Thursday night, awarding the albums, songs, performers, labels, and imprints that have dominated Billboard’s weekly charts throughout 2021.
Rimas Entertainment artist Bad Bunny went into the night as the finalist with the most categories to their name (22!), and came out of the evening still the top honoree. The “Dákiti” singer took home Artist of the Year, Hot Latin Song of the Year, Top Latin Album of the Year, Latin Rhythm Artist of the Year, and more.
Bachata kings Aventura were awarded ‘Tropical Artist of the Year, Duo or Group.’ This summer, Bad Bunny and Aventura teamed up on their hit collaboration “Volví,” which in just one day after its release, trended No. 1 in over sixteen countries on Apple Music, nine countries on Spotify, and hit No. 7 on the Spotify Global Chart.
Regional Mexican group Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga were honored with two awards last night, Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Duo or Group and Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, Duo or Group. Their 2020 collaboration “Qué Maldición” with Snoop Dogg and Becky G recently went 9x platinum!
