Queesnland-founded punk band The Chats’ debut studio album High Risk Behavior (Bargain Bin Records / Cooking Vinyl Australia) took home Best Independent Punk Album. The album was released in March 2020 and peaked at No. 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart.
Country artist Fanny Lumsden took home Best Independent Country Album for her sophomore studio album Fallow (Cooking Vinyl Australia). The twelve-track album peaked at No. 10 on the ARIA Albums chart and received the Best Country Album award at the 2020 ARIA Music Awards.
Sydney-founded metalcore band Polaris was awarded Best Independent Heavy Album for their sophomore studio album The Death of Me (Resist Records). The record debuted at No. 3 on the ARIA Albums chart, No. 39 in Germany, and received a nomination for Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Album at the 2020 ARIA Music Awards.
