Check out new music from German hip-hop artist Thara, Chicago producer and performer NEZ, and Nordic singer-songwriter Luminous Kid.
Thara – Daydreams (Thara)
German artist Thara presents her debut EP following the success of recent singles “Gold” and “Crew’s Down,” DAYDREAMS. Thara combines elements of hip-hop with electronic and pop and weaves between English and German. Across six tracks, Thara offers personal insights between hard-hitting rap and melodic autotune verses, and doesn’t skimp on scathing scene criticism and realness statements. Keep an eye on Thara as she continues to take over the Deutschrap scene.
NEZ – Midnight Music (EP) (Three Six Zero)
You may already know NEZ as one half of Nez & Rio, responsible for hits like ScHoolboy Q’s “Man of the Year” and A$AP Rocky’s “Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2.” Now the songwriter and producer put a different hat on, this time as a performer, with his EP Midnight Music. In his new project, NEZ takes a small step away from the trap beats he’s become known for and explores groove-heavy house music. He described this new vibe as: “What Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss might be partying to in the 90s with Gianni Versace.” Like a lot of Chicagoans of his generation, NEZ grew up on house, thanks in part to his uncles who were DJs during its 80’s boom, working in the wake of legends like Frankie Knuckles, Ron Hardy, and the Hot Mix 5.
Luminous Kid – at the end of the dream (The Satchi Six)
The story of Luminous Kid began in 2017 when Olof spent six months exploring writing, painting, and photography in South America. He bought a guitar in Costa Rica for $20, and over the next few years wrote original material during his travels. Today, the Nordic artist presents his debut EP at the end of the dream via The Satchi Six. You can hear the influences of his travels across the project, from oceans to mountain tops. The album also features Grammy-nominated singer Phoebe Bridges on “Mountain Crystals.” The two originally met while Olof was photographing for Bridger’s album. After that initial collaboration, the art between the two continued.
