The annual Spellemann Awards (Spellemannprisen) took place April 16, 2021 and was a long-awaited celebration of the Norwegian artists and their releases from last year.
Many of The Orchard’s artists and labels were involved as nominees or as performing artists in the stunning TV-show. There was no audience this year, but all genres and winners were highlighted along with some great performances, including the following from Valkyrien Allstars who won the Contemporary Folk (Viser) genre:
Our label’s wide repertoire is represented in the genres below, from the young musical career of Niilas, to established artists like Daniel Herskedal, Maria Kannegaard Trio and Valkyrien Allstars. Okkultokrati won the Metal genre category with their album La Ilden Lyse, their second album on Southern Lord, while Jørn Stubberud from the legendary Black Metal pioneers Mayhem won the Lifetime Achievement Award.
