Hello readers, welcome back to another music-filled Friday. This week The Orchard is delivering another set of favorable records, from a Jazz saxophone player to a rapper and a melodic folk group. Stick around to learn more about this eclectic new music, Out Today.
A well-versed saxophone player, Chris Potter enlists the talents of James Francies and Eric Harland to generate an electric sound on Circuits. The new album is out today via Edition Records. Linley Marthe also joins the mix to “fall into the groove” as Chris describes in the video below. A variety of generations and dialects of jazz unite to form this tight sound reflective of a collective experience that lead to his 2006 album, Underground. Listen to Circuits which The Times describes stating “Chris Potter is one of the world’s best saxophonists, a master at mixing modern musical genres with conviction, but it has been hard to embrace the diffuse, introspective discs he has recorded of late. With Circuits, his first release with the British label Edition, he consciously gets back to the groove and the result is a relief. His lyricism remains, but the music to which it is applied has far more grit and energy.”
One thing is for certain, IAMDDB definitely “Wokeuptoflexx (WUTF)” with the release of Swervvvvv.5. Without an ounce of hesitation, IAMDDB breaks the mold with lyrics that emanate power and confidence. The new EP, brought to you by Union IV Recordings, is the artist’s 5th EP and follows Flightmode Vol.4. IAMDDB continues to bring the heat with new features including today’s release alongside Diplo “Mira Mira.” Listen to Swervvvvv.5 out now and don’t miss IAMDDB on tour this spring and a slew of upcoming festival appearances all over the world.
The seamless harmonies of Darlingside have reemerged with the release of Look Up & Fly Away from More Doug Records. The EP consists of an extension of tracks formed in the development of the 2018 album, Extralife. The album’s single “Hold Your Head Up High” was recently nominated for the 2019 “International Song of the Year” UK Americana Award. The group thrives in a live setting as demonstrated in the video and according to Red Guitar Music, are “…a band like no other but it’s staggering to witness just how delicately balanced (and – frankly – in tune) they are in the live setting as well.” Take advantage of every note with Look Up & Fly Away, out now.
