Bilbao, Spain transformed into an international music ground when BIME Pro took over the city on October 24-26, 2018, with many events taking place at one of the most iconic venues in the city, the Bilbao Exhibition Center. The festival is an important meeting point for the Spanish music industry — since 2013, creating a bridge that links Europe and Latin America.
Always with a keen eye on new technologies and ideas, BIME Pro offered showcases, networking, curated conversation emphasizing innovation with presentations from 220 speakers and 600 organized speed meetings. 2,000 professionals from over 26 countries were represented at the festival. And let’s not forget their delicious food and drink offerings to accompany the good tunes…the options were endless.
The Orchard Barcelona and Madrid offices took the opportunity to come together in Bilbao, meeting partners, labels, and artists. On the Thursday evening, The Orchard was invited to a mentoring session for eight new bands, discussing digital distribution and answering their questions. If you couldn’t tell, face to face interaction is our secret sauce.
But let’s speak about live music! Our newly distributed label Oso Polita presented talent at BIME City, a segment of BIME Pro. Those who performed included Uniforms, Venturi, Garbayo, and Gimnástica. Electronic pop project North State from our friends at Club Ruido also took the stage. BIME concluded with two nights of international artists including our very own Editors (PIAS) and once again, Uniforms.
Thank you BIME for letting us be part of the celebration. We’ll be ready for 2019!
