This year, The Orchard and finetunes joined forces. In celebration of this global collaboration, our teams united to host an event at Reeperbahn Festival. The festival took place September 20th through 23rd, boasting a huge number of showcases, conferences, panels and more, all throughout Hamburg, Germany. With more than 40,000 visitors, 4,700 delegates from over 58 countries, 600 live concerts, 420 bands, in over 70 locations within four days, the festival has grown astronomically and continues to get more and more attention from the global music community.
On Thursday and Friday of the festival we welcomed partners and labels to Bahnhof Pauli, which is located at the Spielbudenplatz, the festival’s main square. As in previous years, the activities help set the stage and centralize our presence as we catch up with our labels, retail reps and foster new relationships with fellow music leaders. Our happy hour was full of excitement and chatter as everyone enjoyed drinks and snacks in our unique venue.
The Orchard hosted back-to-back days of amazing artists from our repertoire at Bahnhof Pauli. On Thursday FLAWES, Flora Cash, The Aces and Mogli shared incredible sets. The following night The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer, The Chairman, Adna, Noah Slee and Zoology set the stage on fire.
Outside of our showcases, The Orchard’s Managing Director of Europe Manlio Celotti was invited to speak on multiple panels where he shared his thoughts about the development of the blockchain economy in the music business. Together, with Dave Allen (Director NORTH Music), Ole Obermann (Executive VP Business Development, Warner Music Group), Ralph Pighin (Vice President Central and Eastern Europe, Deezer) and Kurth Thielen (Founder / MD, Zebralution), Manlio shared his vast knowledge in ‘The Future Of Music Streaming‘ panel.
Alongside the artists performing at various locations, Dave Stewart was invited to the conference for the fourth time and gave an intriguing keynote at the festival dome on Wednesday titled ‘Love Is a Stranger.’
All in all, our team had a blast celebrating our 20th year and welcoming our new colleagues. After one of our biggest years yet, we can’t wait to see what the future holds. See you next year, Reeperbahn!
