Billboard has recently announced the nominees for the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. The winners will be announced live from The Dolby Theatre at 8PM, October 14th on NBC.
The Billboard Music Awards signify the leaders across Billboard charts from March 23, 2019 through March 14, 2020. While previously announced and broadcasted in spring, this year’s awards were postponed due to COVID-19.
At The Orchard, we congratulate a number of our distributed nominees and realize one common thread – music is a universal language. Language, geography, and culture have immensely influenced music.
With a knack for turning out #1 hits and albums, it’s no surprise BTS landed on the nominee list for the Top Duo/Group and Top Social Artist awards. This will be the second year in a row the group has earned these dual nominations. Last year, the global pop superstars took home the award for both categories, out-ranking the likes of Maroon 5, Ariana Grande, and Louis Tomlinson.
Accompanying BTS in the Top Social Artist category is JYP Entertainment group, GOT7. The South Korea-based pop group continues to grow on a global scale with catchy releases and eye-catching music videos for tracks like “You Calling My Name” and “Not By The Moon.”
In the world of Latin, Anuel AA makes his splash as a nominee for both Top Latin Artist and Top Latin Song. “China,” featuring fellow Latin sensations Daddy Yankee, Karol G, Ozuna and J Balvin, became one of the top songs of the year. The music video alone has earned over 1.5 billion views. Anuel’s talent, personality, impressive collaborations, and adorable relationship with Karol G have got the world glued and always eager for more.
Last but certainly not least, Ozuna is in the running for Top Latin Artist. Ozuna won this category as well as Top Latin Album in 2019. In previous years he was honored Guinness World Records for an unprecedented number of Billboard Latin Music Award nominations and wins and for achieving the most weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart. While not considered in this award period, Ozuna recently released a massive new album ENOC featuring Sia, Doja Cat, Myke Towers, Daddy Yankee, Wisin, Archangel, and so many more.
