2020 ADISQ Nominations Have Been Announced

2020 ADISQ Nominations Have Been Announced

The 42nd annual ADISQ Awards nominees have been announced. The Orchard is honored to distribute the works of more than 55 nominated releases and label partners.

The 2020 Gala will be broadcasted in three parts. The Industry Gala will take place October 26th via live stream on the ADISQ website. Followed by The First Gala featuring genre-specific awards, hosted by Audiogram artist Piere Lapointe on October 28th on Télé-Québec. Finally, the main event, featuring the biggest awards of the Gala, will air live on Radio-Canada on November 1st.

The Orchard’s top nominated artist, Louis-Jean Cormier, was listed nine times in association with his latest album Quand la nuit tombe. Including the nomination for Album of The Year, Quand la nuit tombe is also featured for Critic’s Choice and Adult Contemporary, Arrangement, and Sound Mixing prizes. The Canadian indie rock artist is a former member of the group Karkwa and is well known as a judge on the francophone Candian version of the television franchise The Voice, known locally as La Voix.

Quand la nuit tombe was not the only Simone Records release that gained attention this year.  Marie-Pierre Arthur’s Des feux pour voir was recognized three times across the Alternative, Critic’s Choice and Female Artist of The Year categories.

The ever-talented, activist, documentary filmmaker, and musician, Elisapie returns to the nominee list for Indigenous Artist of The Year, Most Influential Artist, and for Performance of the Year with “The Ball of The Runaway Girl.” Consistently nominated for her impressive artistry, the Bonsound artist utilizes many art forms as a means to spread awareness and hope.
