Jeff Healey was arguably one of the most distinctive guitar players of our time. Blind since early childhood due to a rare form of cancer, Healey began playing guitar flat across his lap, "accidentally" devising a signature style that he used while performing alongside legends like B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and George Harrison. In late 2007, Healey recorded his final album 'Mess Of Blues' with longstanding friends and musicians whom Healey considered "the best damned bar band in Canada.” Following a lengthy struggle with cancer, Healey sadly passed away on Sunday March 2, 2008 in Toronto. |
